OPEN AGE MATCH REPORTS

A return to league action saw Prospect playing another away fixture. In a competitive first half John Butters netted Prospects first after a good worked move( 19 mins ). Prospect settled and played some good football creating some good chances, however Druids struck back with a gift of a goal! Prospect stung into action John Butters crashed a shot against the bar and Lawford saw a diving header tipped over . Half time 1 - 1.

Again Prospect took command as Druids opted for the direct approach. Damo Lawford restored Prospect goal advantage on 55 mins and converted a penalty on 65 mins to make the game safe. More chances followed and Gary Elliott completed Prospects scoring with a fine drive into the corner of the net. Druids got a consolation with a late free kick. Full time 2 - 4.

Some good performances all round, with Craig Driver being the Referee's choice for Match point.


In our second top of the table clash this season our good start was brought to an end by Gaping Goose. Both teams played some excellent football each dominating for different spells of the match.

Goose took a 2-0 lead within twenty minutes playing some good football. Prospect replied before half time with goals from D Lawford and John Butters HT: 2 - 2.

A hard fought second half turned on a referee's decision awarding a goal after the GOOSE striker twice handled the ball to get it into the net in a goalmouth scramble. MOM D. Backhouse made the score 3-3 only for Goose to snatch a winner in the last minute.

This weekend Prospect FC travelled to George n Dragon in the District Cup and ran out comfortable winners 8-1. Andy Brown led the feast with a 'Hat-Trick'. John Butters bagged a 'brace' and a goal each from Jason Butters, Alan Holdsworth and a Vinny Walker penalty completed the scoring.
A hard fought first half in wet and windy conditions, an outstanding Andy Brown bagged a brace with Vinny Walker adding a penalty on the stroke of half time. Prospect took early command in the second half and added a further five. Captain Craig Driver was again superb at the back and won Referee's MOM, in footballing terms probably our best performance of the season, everyone playing their part in a great win. The 'True Grit' performance came in the previous round against Gaping Goose!!!!!. We're now into the last eight (Q-Finals) the sharp end of the competition.
The Reserves had another outstanding league win' turning over' Malt Kiln 9-1.

The first team played host to Queensbury, a League fixture, at the weekend. In a hard fought game with some good football being played at times, Queensbury took the lead from a corner on 30 mins. Prospect had already missed a few chances but after good work by Karl Senior on the right, he supplied the cross for Andy Brown to head the equaliser.
The second half started very flat with few chances being created. The introduction of Tom Dolan for the remaining 25 mins swung the game Prospect's way, scoring himself to make it 2-1 and having a hand in two more scored by John and Jason Butters. Full time 4-1. MOM: TOM DOLAN

A good performance away to St John's of Dewsbury saw the first team win this County Cup tie 6 - 1.
